Aquavitae

A collaborative project with Shin Hamada. In Shibuya—one of the busiest districts in the mega-city of Tokyo—stands a citrus tree in a highly iconic location. This exhibition documents a street performance, designed for public engagement, which explored the history of illicit alcohol production and the cultural evolution of distillation, taking this very tree as its starting point. Coinciding with the exhibition, a book summarizing the entire project was published by PURESU.
